The former Clara Behnke, she was born April 28, 1886 in the town of Rockland, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Behnke Sr. She was married to Mr. Kanter, Dec. 20, 1910 at Brillion.
The couple farmed in the town of Rantoul until 1943 when they retired and moved to Brillion. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Brillion.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are two sons, Wilmer, Brillion and Leland, R. 1, Brillion; two sisters, Mrs. Hugo Olm, Manitowoc, and Mrs. Henry Schneider, R. 4, Chilton; and three brothers, Charles Behnke, Brillion, Elmer, Manitowoc and Edwin, Valders.
Services were held at Trinity Church, Brillion, with the Rev. Arden Stuebs, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
