Eugene "Gene" Bowles, 90, of Tulare passed away Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004..
He was born in Boggy Depot, Atoka County, Okla., to James Daniel and Sarah Frances (Davis) Bowles. He was the youngest of 14 children, and the last to pass away.
The family moved to Texas, where he started school, until he was of high-school age, when the family then moved to McFarland, where he attended
Delano High School. He married the former Geraldine "Jeri" Corona on June 1, 1935, in Wasco. He was a lifelong farmer retiring in 1979.
Gene was a former member of the Tulare Elks Lodge No. 1424. He was also a member of the Lindsay Community Church of the Brethren.
In addition to his wife, Jeri, of Tulare, he is survived by his son, Gerald Bowles and his wife, Shirley, of Tulare; his daughter, Evelyn Goings
of Porterville; four grandchildren, Leslie Clark, Lori Faulkner, Todd Wildermuth and Terry Wildermuth; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Bowles in 1977.
Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Miller's Tulare Funeral Home, with burial at Tulare District Cemetery.
