Claire Harrell Acklen, 87, of Memphis, former employee of the Memphis Veterans Medical Center, died of heart failure Saturday at Saint Francis Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery Midtown. She served in the Women's Army Corps during World War II. She was a member of Chickasaw Bluff Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Dames of the Court of Honor, Founders and Patriots and the Huguenot Society. Mrs. Acklen was the widow of George W. Acklen.
