Lorene Smith, 92, of Hickory Creek passed away Monday, May 5, 2014 at her residence. She was born May 10, 1921 in Denton County to Jess Schoppaul and Sally Broom Schoppaul. She married Maynard Smith on March 7, 1940. He preceded her in death. She retired from the United States Postal Service and was a member of Lake Dallas Church of Christ.

Visitation will be Friday, May 9, 2014 from 6 – 8 pm at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral service will be Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 10:00 am at Lake Dallas Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Swisher Cemetery.

She is survived by her son, Jerry W. Smith and wife Candy of Hickory Creek; grandchildren, Rhonda Tekell and husband, Terry, Candice Hunter and husband, Jason, Jessica Allen and husband Justin; great-grandchildren, Riley Moore, Gracie Hunter, Jadon Hunter, Connor Allen, Haley Tekell, Dylan Tekell and Daniel Tekell. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and grandson, Randy Smith
