He was a former clerk with K&T Railroad. He was a member of the Orie S. Ware Masonic Lodge #874 in Stearns, Kentucky.
He was survived by his sister-in-law, Alta Massengale of Somerset, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel M. (Martin) Abston.
Graveside services were held at the Science Hill Cemetery.
