George was the oldest son of Herbert Dennis Dixon and Ottie Ann Ratliff Dixon. He was known to family and friends as "Pete".

He lived in Roswell, New Mexico and entered service from NM

Pete was killed in the Battle of Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Pete's name is on the "Court of Honor" at American Memorial Park, Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands; Plate 10 Column 1.
