Daily Globe, Wednesday, December 22, 1971, Ironwood, Michigan- Mellen-Mrs. Joseph Hillman, 71, Highbridge, died Monday at an Ashland hospital. She was born May 26, 1900 at Beaver Dam, Wis; and came to Mellen in 1911. In 1916 she was married to Peter Stilen, who died in 1949. She was married to Joseph Hillman June 9, 1956 at Mellen. Survivors include her husband; five sons, George, Louis, and William Stilen all of Mellen, Peter Stilen, Montreal, and John Stilen, Middleton, Wis; four daughters, Mrs. E. Dawald and Mrs. Paul Parker, Beloit, Wis., Mrs. Robert Scribner, Mellen, and Mrs. George Maatta, Highbridge; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and two brothers Frank Otto, Beaver Dam, and John Otto, Mellen. Funeral services will be held at 10 Thursday morning in Holy Rosary Catholic Church here. Burial will be in Mellen Union Cemetery. The Burns Funeral Home here will be open after 4 this afternoon and the rosary will be recited there at 6:30 this evening.
