She was born to Albert Z. and Linnie McCord Ammons on January 23, 1922 in Morgantown, West Virginia, the oldest of 9 children. Together, they had 4 children: Jean Furman (Glenn), Charles Lemley (Dixie), David Lemley (Ruth), Lois Williams Corbin (Jim). Lorene was a woman who loved and faithfully prayed for her family and was beloved by her family and friends. Many in her Chapel Springs Gainesville Life Group lovingly called her "Mom" or "Angel". A role model who was delightful, cheerful and kind; stylish, good looking, fun loving and generous. She was calm and quiet in spirit, yet she exhibited strength and courage. She was blessed with good health to enjoy Christmas and celebrate her 99th birthday by Zoom in January.

At a later date, a Celebration of Life gathering will be held in Gainesville, Virginia with burial in Pentress, West Virginia. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Care Net Pregnancy Resource Centers, PO Box 2040, Manassas, VA 20108 in her honor.
