Henry was the son of Jacob Daniel Echelberger and Keziah Slagel. He married Harriet Westbrook on Aug 20, 1874 in Hamilton Co, Iowa. They were the parents of Mabel, Nellie, Carl, and Olive.

Jan 4, 1918 - Humboldt Republican - Henry Slagel Echelberger was born in Union county, Ohio, May 13, 1852 and died at his home in south, Humboldt, Iowa, Dec. 28, 1917, aged sixty-five year's, nine months, and fifteen
days. He came to Webster county, Iowa with his parents in 1867.

0n August 20, 1874 he was united in marriage with Miss Harriet Loraine Westbrook. To this union four children were born. They are Mrs. Mabel Kinser of Outing, Minn.; Mrs. Nellie Grinnell and Carl Echelberger of Humboldt, Iowa; and Mrs. Olive Johnson of Lehigh, Iowa.

He also leaves eight grandchildren; two step-sisters: Mrs. Rose Hill, York, Neb. and Mrs. Ina Williams of Lehigh, Iowa; and four brothers: George, Charles, Lincoln, and William, all of Lehigh, Iowa. These with his wife and other relatives survive to mourn his loss. He was a member of the M.E. church, a devoted husband, loving father, and a kind neighbor.
