Doris was a graduate of the Evanston nurses training program, and had been employed as a Registered Nurse at Evanston Hospital. She served in the Navy, as a Lt. JG Nurse, and was stationed in Virginia and in Trinidad. She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter No. 850, and Order of the Amaranth, Heather Court, No. 27.
In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Carlson: her sisters, Mrs. Merle Carlson Holder, and Mrs. Olive Carlson Stull; and brothers, Peter and Michael Carlson.
Visitation and services were held at Wheeling Funeral Home, Wheeling, IL. A private military service was held for her interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
