Family and friends may attend a funeral service for Charmion on Wednesday (May 7) at 11 a.m. at United Church of Fayette, Route 414, Fayette, N.Y. Burial will follow in Fayette Rural Cemetery, Fayette, N.Y. There will be no prior calling hours.
If desired, contributions may be made to South Seneca Ambulance Corps, Route 96A, Ovid, N.Y. 14521.Arrangements are under the direction of Doran Funeral Home, Seneca Falls, N.Y.
Charmion was born in the Town of Varick, N.Y., on November 29, 1923, the daughter of the late James L. & Charmion M. Boyle. She was a life resident of the town of Varick and a graduate of S.U.N.Y. at Morrisville, where she earned her Associate's Degree in Home Economics. She was retired from the Willard Psychiatric Center, Willard, N.Y. She was a member of the Varick United Methodist Church, Town of Varick, N.Y., the Seneca Falls Library, & both the Seneca Falls and Fayette Historical Societies. She had been a member of the former Taylor-Brown Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the Ovid, NY V.F.W. She was a past chairman of the Seneca County Democratic Party and was a former Seneca County Historian.
Charmion was inducted in the National Women's Hall of Fame in 1995.She is survived by: five daughters, Charmion Allman of Texas, Nancy Dinsmore of New Jersey, Patricia Walters of Baltimore, Maryland Dolores (Douglas Bastian) Dinsmore of Town of Varick, N.Y., Diane (James Ryniec) Dinsmore of Depew, N.Y.; three sons, Robert (Aurora) Allman of Hawaii, Richard (Charlene) Allman of Sommerville, S.C., James (Judy) Dinsmore of Town of Fayette, N.Y. and Roger Barto of Waterloo, N.Y.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, & great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Patricia (Paul) Sternberg of Norwich, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews.
Charmion was predeceased by her husband, John Dinsmore who died October 30, 2005, one son, Jon W. Dinsmore who died in 1998, one daughter, Carol Belmont who died in 2011, two sisters, Catherine Somerville, Eileen Koenig, & three brothers, Leo, James, & Richard Boyle.
