Sophie M. Sobol

Sophie M. Sobol, age 92, of 1614 17th St.. Two Rivers, died at Shady Lane Nurs­ing Care Center, Manitowoc.

Sophie was born on Feb 6, 1914, in Antigo, Wis., daughter of the late Ignatz and Angeline (Stopka) Maciora. She married Bruno Wozniak in Superior in 1939. He preceded her in death on March 22, 1952. Sophie then married Walter Sobol on Aug 22, 1953 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Walter preceded her in death on Oct 3, 1994. Sophie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, putting others before herself. Most of Sophie's life was spent raising her children and spoiling her grandchildren.

Survivors include three daughters and son-in-law: Helen and Robert Vaclavik, Jacksonville, Fla., Janet and Dennis Belz, Two Rivers, Irene and David Destree, Two Rivers; one daughter-in-law: Margaret Zimmer, Two Rivers; 11 grandchildren: John (Andrea) Vaclavik, Jill (Ken) Clothier, Jodi (John) Mullaney, Mark (Jill) Wozniak, Amy (Wayne) Wallace, Matthew (Angela) Belz, Amanda Belz, Kimberly (Jason) Quast, Ryan, Andrea and Justin Destree; 12 great-grandchildren: Adam, Erin and Sarah Vaclavik, Drew, Ian and Mackenzie Clothier, Miller and Megan Mullaney, Jamie and Emma Wallace, Lily Belz and Logan Woods; one sister: Mary Brehmer, Antigo; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends also survive.

Sophie was also preceded in death by one son: John Wozniak; and two sisters: Catherine and Angeline.

Funeral services will be held at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Two Rivers, on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. William O'Brien with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006 at the Klein and Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers from 5-8 p.m. with a prayer service to be held at 7:30 p.m. led by Rev. William O'Brien. The visitation will continue on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Two Rivers, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 10:30 a.m.

Sophie spent her life raising her family and instilling in them the values of Christian living. She loved sharing her good, old-fashioned cooking, hand-knit projects, fruits of her garden, and time with her family, friends, and her church. Mom rest peacefully and reap the rewards of the a job well done.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs of Wisteria Haus and Shady Land Nursing care Center for their kind and compassionate care given to Sophie and her family.

Memorials may be made in Sophie's name to St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Two Rivers.
