William D. Bankert, of McSherrystown, entered into eternal sleep January 10 in Hanover.
He was the son of Anna May Greenholtz of New Oxford and the late Carroll "Pat" Bankert.
Mr. Bankert was employed at J. C. Ehrlich Pest Control Services in York. He was a 1973 graduate of South Western High School. Mr. Bankert participated in team play at South Hills Golf Club in Hanover. He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in McSherrystown, the McSherrystown Knights of Columbus, and the McSherrystown Home Association.
He was the husband of Janice K. Snyder Bankert for 31 years and surviving, in addition to her, are two daughters, Jennifer Showers of Gardners and Heather Bankert of Bend, OR; two sons, Daniel Bankert of New Oxford and Andrew Bankert of McSherrystown; three grandsons; two brothers David Bankert of Spring Grove and James Bankert of WV; and one sister, Carol Bair of York.
