Florence Lindemuth was born January 30, 1899, at Maidencreek, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Thomas and Minnie Lindemuth. She grew up in Maidencreek and attended school there. She was married to Edward A. Smith in Pennsylvania. They moved to Sioux Falls in 1915. They moved to Dell Rapids in 1938 and established the Riverside Hatchery. Mr. Smith died in June 1953. Florence then moved to Sioux Falls. In 1987 she moved to the Terrace Manor Nursing Home in Dell Rapids.
She was a member of the Dell Rapids Garden Club and wintered in Texas for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and sisters.
Grateful for having shared her life are her one son, Venus "Bud" Smith of Sioux Falls, one daughter, Mrs. Barney (Grace) Reiter of Sioux Falls; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and three brothers, Herman Lindemuth of Torington, Connecticut, Reuben Lindemuth of Reading, Pennsylvania, and Frank Lindemuth of Fleetwood, Pennsylvania.
Visitation was held on Friday, July 21, at the Kahler Funeral Chapel, Dell Rapids, with Pastor Mark Docken officiating. Interment was held at the Dell Rapids Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Terry Smith, Michael Nelson, Jared Reiter, Aaron Reiter, Barney Reiter and Ronald Nelson.
