Nelson A. Guengerich, 88, of Pekin passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at his residence.
Born July 19, 1925, in Spring Lake to Phillip and Johanna (Musselman) Guengerich, he married Norma Jean Heiken on Aug. 29, 1948, in Pekin. She died June 19, 2006, in Peoria.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mildred Willock; and one brother, Ralph Guengerich.
Surviving are one son, Dr. Gary A. Guengerich of Mapleton; one daughter, Jan (Fred) Block of Spring Lake; one brother, Burton Guengerich of Manito; and one sister, Mag Irish of Lincoln.
Nelson was a World War II Army veteran, having served in the Pacific Theater.
Nelson worked for Central Illinois Light Company for 42 years, retiring as the supervisor of the Pekin Electric Department in 1988.

Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
