James W. Kumbalek Sr., age 76, of 2502 13th St., Two Rivers, died unexpectedly on Monday night, Nov. 12, 2007.

Jim was born on May 7, 1931, in Two Rivers, a son of the late Cornelius and Bertha (Rohrer) Kumbalek. He attended St. Mark Catholic Grade School Washington High School, Two Rivers, graduating with the class of 1950. He served a four-year apprenticeship after completing training at a paint and decorating trade school. Jim worked for Kumbalek Color Center of Two Rivers from 1955 to 1973, before opening his own business in 1973, known as Jim's Painting Service. He was later joined in business by his son, Jim Jr., who continues to operate the business after Jim's retirement in 2004. He was a
longtime member of St. Mark's Catholic Church, where he served on several church committees, and was also a member of the Two Rivers Senior Citizens. In addition to painting, Jim's hobbies included gardening and raising chickens. He also enjoyed spending time at his cottage with family and friends. Jim married the former Catherine A. DeBruin on Nov. 24, 1951, at St. Mark's
Catholic Church, Two Rivers. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2001. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who will be greatly missed by his family and special cat, Miranda.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by twin great-granddaughters: Hannah and Olivia Jansky; and a brother and sister-in-law: George and MaryAnn Kumbalek.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, at the Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th St., Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Michael Koch, with burial to follow in Holy Cross
Cemetery, Two Rivers.

Friends may call at the Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, from 5 until 8 p.m. on Thursday evening, Nov. 15, 2007, and after 10 a.m. on Friday until the time of the service at 11 a.m
