Dr. Earl Edward Aldinger, Jr. died May 8, 2014, at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Charleston following a brief illness.
Dr. Aldinger was born July 11, 1929, in Charleston, a son of the late Earl E. Aldinger and the late Beatrice Igoe Aldinger.
He graduated from the College of Charleston and served as a flier in the U.S. Air Force. Later he taught at Tulane University Medical School and the Medical University of South Carolina, where he earned an MA and a PhD in Pharmacology.
Known affectionately to his family as "Buddy" and to his many friends as "Dinger", Earl had a wonderfully biting sense of humor. He loved to fish and cook. From his time in New Orleans, he was fond of Red Beans and Rice.
He was survived by a son, Scott Aldinger, of Charlotte, NC; and by brothers, Charles, of Washington, DC, and Thomas, of Benicia, CA.
A graveside service was Tuesday, May 13, 2014, in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
