PIONEER DIES AT DAUGHTER'S HOME IN CITY
Joseph Jacquette Sr., 89, Member of Old Town of Two Rivers Family Dies

TWO RIVERS, (Special)-The last member of one of the families that settled in the town of Two Rivers when the vicinity was inhabited mostly by Indians, is dead.

He was Joseph Jacquette Sr., 89, a resident of Manitowoc county for 83 years, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Weiss, 1701 24th street, at 8:30 this morning. He had been in good health up to a year ago despite his advanced age and had attributed his longevity to long walks. Frequently he had hiked to points in the town where he operated farms.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The services will be held in St. Luke's Catholic church with the Very Rev. Dean C.V. Hugo officiating and interment will be in the family lot in Calvary cemetery but the day and hour of the funeral have not been selected. The body is at the Beduhn and Goetz funeral home.

Joseph Jacquette was born in Brussels, Belgium, Nov. 14, 1846, a son, Joseph and Mary Jacquette (sic). At the age of six he was brought to this country by his parents who settled in virtually a wilderness on a farm on the Rangeline, 3 miles north of the city.

In 1874 Mr. Jacquette married Miss Catherine Kleckner of the town of Two Rivers in St. Luke's church here. Leaving the homestead farm the couple purchased a farm on the Mishicot road which they sold 14 years ago to Al Braun. The family then moved to the city. Mrs. Jacquette died 12 years ago. Since that time Mr. Jacquette had made his home with his children here and in the town of Two Rivers.

Mr. Jacquette is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Christ Funk of the town of Two Rivers, Mrs. Frank Weiss and Mrs. Clarence Holsen, both of this city. There are also eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

For more than 50 years Mr. Jacquette was a member of the St. Joseph's society of St. Luke's church. He was also affiliated with the Holy Name society of the church.
