On March 28, 2010, Norman left this earth for a trip to his heavenly home.Norman C. Mabe was born October 20, 1947 in Bluefield, W.Va. to Lomer and Ruth Mabe. He attended and graduated from Montcalm High School in 1965. After graduation, he served his country by joining the United States Air Force in 1966, achieving the rank of Sergeant in 1968, before his honorable discharge in 1970. He worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad for more than 20 years before becoming disabled in 2000. Since retirement, his personal motto has been. All days are good, some are just better. He was a member of MapleView Church of Christ, attended Princeton Vet Center #232, and was a member of the Mountaineer Athletic Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lomer and Ruth; and nephew, Jeff. Survivors include his wife Janet; son, Jason and wife Becca; stepdaughter, Tracy; and grandchildren, Jailyn, Corey, Deion, and Destinee. Siblings include Roy, wife Sally, Joyce, Don, Carol, husband Roy, and Cheryl, husband Donnie. Nieces and nephews include Julie, Cecil, and Kelli. Great-nieces and nephews include Emma, Kaitlyn, Maggie, and Greyson. Additional survivors include a host of good friends and family members.
Celebrate the life of an avid life long Mountaineer fan and feel free to wear your favorite Mountaineer gear during visitation on Wednesday, March 31st from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at MapleView Church of Christ, located at 32 Mercer Mall Road, Bluefield, WV 24701.On Thursday, April 1st, a Celebration of Life service will be held at MapleView Church of Christ at 1:00 p.m. with Minister Tony Reed officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.
Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton, W.Va. with military honors being performed.Pallbearers will be Carl Dunn, Sammy Foy, Dennis Buckner, James Goins, Deion Nabors, Danny Brown, Dennis Kirby, and Harold Webb. Honorary pallbearers are the Princeton Vet Center #232 and the Railroad Retirement Lunch Group.
