Funeral services for Elizabeth Nelson, 89, of The Woodlands, TX, are set for 11 AM Friday, May 16, 2014, at First United Methodist Church, 1127 Third Street, Rosenberg, TX 77471, with Rev. John Black officiating. Burial will follow in Davis-Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery, Rosenberg, TX.
Visitation will be 5 - 7:00 PM Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, 1201 Fourth Street, Rosenberg, TX 77471.
She was born Elizabeth Pearl Grimes on May 26, 1924, in Bell County, TX, to Payton Purl Grimes and Mary Elizabeth Gregory Grimes. She passed quietly and peacefully into the arms of the Heavenly Father on Monday afternoon, May 12, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital in The Woodlands, TX. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Rosenberg, and a member of the DAR and DRT. Elizabeth was employed as a bookkeeper for LCISD. She enjoyed crocheting for the CASA Quilters of Dallas, and she loved being around her family. She was a woman of few words, but she loved to listen to others.
Elizabeth was greeted by her husband of 35 years, Victor Nelson; parents; sisters, Lila Henson, Katie Avery, and Virginia Feagin; great grandchild, Adelaina, and many friends.
Survivors include sons, Jesse Nelson and wife, Lyn, and Kirby Nelson and wife, Karen; 9 grandchildren, Shiree, De Ann, Lydia, Tiffany, Jordan, Bryan, Mason, Brenna and Jadyn; great grandchildren, Jaida and Karsyn; sister, Joyce Gregory and husband, David; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members, and by many friends.
