Mr. Ashman, who was in his 68th year, was the son of Alice Hotchkiss and Robert Ashman, a veteran of the Civil War who died of yellow fever in South America and is buried there. Although born in Hudson County, NJ, Mr. Ashman spent practically all of his life in Branford where he followed the trade of blacksmith.
He is survived by his son, a daughter, Mrs. Viola Colbert of Indian Neck, and eight grandchildren. A grandson, seaman 1st class William S. is with the U. S. Navy. A granddaughter, Miss Ruth Ashman, who is attending the N.Y. A. School in Camdan, NJ is expected home for the funeral.
Services will be held at the Norman V. Lamb Funeral Home, Montowese Street, tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. A. W. Jones will officiate and burial will be in Stony Creek Cemetery.
