James W. Brown, Jr., 72, of Walker, W.Va., died Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus.

He was born in Uniontown, Pa., a son of the late James W. Brown, Sr. and Lois Mabel (Sharpnack) Brown.

He retired from Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal. He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers 33, Operating Engineers 132, the Elks and the Moose. He served on the Board of Directors for both The Smoot Theatre and The Boys and Girls Club of Parkersburg.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Jo (Allen) Brown; two sons, Barry Brown of Vienna, and Chris Brown of Vincent, Ohio; two granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jesse Brown of Canton, Ga., Bruce McVey of Godfrey, Ill., and Brian McVey of Arlington, Texas; and a sister, Beverly Young of North Carolina.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Violet K. Brown; and brother, Lee McVey.

Services will be 4 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Shawn Lauderman officiating. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at Saltwell Cemetery in Inez, Ky. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to The Boys and Girls Club of Parkersburg, 1200 Mary Street, Parkersburg, WV 26101.
