BURTON - Dale W. Burton, 73, 1801 6th St., died at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1982, in River Bluff Nursing Home after a short illness. Born Sept. 15, 1909, in Dekalb County, son of Richard and Bertha Shriver Burton. Lived 24 years in Rockford, coming from Cherry Valley. Married to the former Bernice Anderson in Waukegan, Feb. 14, 1958. Employed as real estate salesman by Blackhawk Valley Realtors.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice; two sons, Richard Steen in Texas and Richard Burton, New York City; five daughters, Audrey McElroy, in Florida, Dolores Peterson, Roscoe, Betty Downey, Rockford, Pat Abruzzo, Albuquerque, N.M., and Diane Hall, Loves Park; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Effie Lux, Mount Morris. Predeceased by a daughter, Sharon.
Services at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, in Wilbur Christenson Funeral Home Ltd., 925 3rd Ave., with the Rev. William O. Risinger, pastor of Centennial United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. No visitation.
