BOBBIE ANCIL "BOB" MORGAN, 85, of Alvin, TX passed away peacefully Thursday, May 15, 2014 at home surrounded by the family he loved.

Bob was born September 21, 1928 in Morgantown, Mississippi to G.D. Morgan and Annie Jackson Morgan, and he remained forever a country boy at heart.

Bob married the LOVE of his life, Helen Gray Morgan, June 5, 1954 in Hernando, Mississippi and settled in Memphis, Tennessee. From that day forward they were never apart. Together they raised three daughters: Rhonda Morgan Smith and husband Randy of Alvin, Lisa Morgan Pitts and husband Gary of Friendswood, and Janet Morgan Melnar and husband Rodney of Bellville.

Bob "PopPop" was so very proud of his eight grandsons: Keith Smith and wife Tina of Danbury, Brent Smith of Angleton, Brandon Smith of Angleton, Beau Pitts of Tiki Island, Jared Pitts and wife Jessica of Friendswood, Morgan Pitts of Fort Worth, Steffan Melnar of Denton, and Garrett Ancil Melnar of Bellville. The other delights in Bob's life were his five great-grandchildren: Megan Smith, Jacob Smith, Mya Smith, Aubree "Bobbie" Smith and Carson Smith.

After graduation from high school in 1947, he enlisted in the Air Force where he served until 1956. His Air Force service to his country remained one of his proudest achievements. The Air Force brought him and Helen to Pasadena, Texas where he worked at Diamond Alkali until 1963. A move to Monsanto Corporation brought the family to Alvin, their life-long home. After retirement in 1984, Bob and Helen loved to fish and spent time at their East Texas cabin. They were well known for their "Mercy Missions." Mom would cook and Dad would mow, prepare, or paint whatever needed work while Mom delivered meals to those in need. Bob and Helen made a trip to Mountain View, Arkansas twice a year to meet family and friends from across the U.S. for lots of good times. Their greatest joy, ALWAYS, was being with their family, enjoying good food, good fishing, noisy laughter, and each other. Bob was a wonderful Christian example, an ordained deacon, youth leader, Sunday School teacher, dedicated employee, great neighbor, caring son, son-in-law and brother, a loving and devoted husband for 60 years, the BEST Daddy any girl could ever have, and above all else a good and faithful servant of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He and Mom set aside a Special time for daily Bible Reading and prayer every day.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Eddie Barton and Annie Bess Morgan; his brother, George Morgan; his in-laws, Ed and Azalee Gray; and other relatives.

A visitation was held at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home in Friendswood Sunday, May 18, 2014 at 3:00 p.m., with the funeral service immediately following at 4:00 p.m. Pallbearers were the joys of his life, his grandsons. Burial will take place in Morgan Cemetery, Morgantown, Mississippi at a later date.

The family especially wishes to thank his loving and attentive care providers; you are "family" too; and to the staff of Hospice Care Team and especially our nurse, Carmen. You will always have a special place in our heart.

Contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Hospice Care Team, 107 West Way, Suite 29, Lake Jackson, TX or Texas Baptist Men, Church Building Program 5351 Catron, Dallas, TX 75227.
