OBITUARY FOR CURTIS RAY FARMER
Curtis Ray Farmer, 75, of East Bank, died May 17, 2014, at home. He was born October 3, 1938, in Pulaski, Va., and was the son of the late Edward Ray and Virginia Lucille Tolbert Farmer. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Ann Farmer.
He was a retired machinist from West Virginia Mine Service at Kimberly and a lifelong mechanic. He was a Christian and attended the Chesapeake Family Worship Center. He was active with computers, Facebook, genealogy research, and flint knapping. His hobbies also included riding motorcycles and fishing with his lifelong friend, Morris "Doody" Bounds. Most of all, he loved sharing his time with his grandson, James, "turning wrenches," coaching him in boxing, and being his best friend.
Surviving are his wife, Jane Martin Farmer; daughters, Vickie Willis and Gina Cordell; grandson, James Hughey and his fiancee, Monica; great-granddaughters, Victoria and Vivian; brother, Jerry Farmer and his wife, Gail of Farnham, Va.; sister, Judy Strickland and her husband, Delbert of Mt. Lookout; four nieces and two nephews.
Service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at Chesapeake Family Worship Center, 11815 MacCorkle Ave., Chesapeake, with Pastor Terry Russell officiating. Friends may call Monday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the church. O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery, is in charge of arrangements.
