The death of W.W. Underwood, of Dexter, which occurred last Sunday evening, was not an unexpected event, he having been ill for some time. He was an old and much respected citizen of this county and many friends deplore his loss.

William W. Underwood (1838-1888) served in the 118th Regiment of the Indiana Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War. Will's family were Quakers from Clinton County, Ohio.
