Born January 17, 1925 in Grenola, Kansas, she was the daughter of Alvin and Alice (Dorsey) Logsdon. She was raised and received her education in rural Grenola and Cambridge schools and graduated from Cambridge High School. She then attended Southwestern College where she received her teaching certificate.
Martha taught school for a brief time at Grand Summit until she married Stanley Asbury on December 24, 1945. After some brief travels for employment reasons, the couple settled in Cambridge, Kansas. Mrs. Asbury was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family and friends.
She and Stanley became Charter Members of the Cambridge Baptist Church in 1947. Martha was very active in her church. She also enjoyed sewing and cooking. Stanley preceded her in death on April 30, 2002.
Her family includes: Her sister: Maxine Tredway of Winfield; Her daughters: Barbara Lahar and husband, Bill of Douglass, KS; Margaret Bing and husband, Curt of Erie, CO; Her grandson: Bill Stephens of Wichita, KS; Her great granddaughters: Emma and Zoe Stephens of Collinsville, OK; and Numerous nieces and nephews.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday morning, May 21, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Cambridge Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Cambridge Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 P.M. The family will greet visitors during this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established in Martha's name for Cumbernauld Village, RiverCross Hospice and for the Cambridge Baptist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
