Thomas Stanley is the twelfth of thirteen children born to Amos George Arnold and Ruth Powell. He lived in Lyman, Idaho all his life. He grew up on his father's farm.
Stanley married Florence LaVerna (Verna) McCulloch on August 4, 1916 in St. Anthony, Idaho. They lived all their married life in Lyman where they dry farmed and raised sheep.
Stanley and Verna became parents to six children: Stanley and June (both stillborn) and Glen Harley, Alvin Blair, Verl Dee, and Judy.
