He was born March 4, 1901 in Wayne Township, a son of the late William and Lucy Conaway Eddy, and resided during his early life in Greene County. He made his home for most of his adult life at Pontiac, Michigan, where he worked for 18 years as a press operator for the Pontiac Motor Co. He moved back to Morgantown two years ago.
He was a Methodist by faith and had been a member of Morgantown Lodge 264, Loyal Order of Moose, for 40 years.
Surviving are his wife, Gail Masters Eddy, whom he married September 22, 1926; a daughter, Mrs. David "Sandra" Burror of Union Lake, Miochigan; a son, Eugene Eddy of Morgantown; five grandchildren; a great-grand-daughter; three sisters, Mrs. Marie Phillips of Waynersburg RD 5, Bessie Latshaw of Clinton and Norma Cole of Dragena, WV; two brothers, Jesse Eddy of Waynersburg RD 4, and Edward Eddy of Aleppo, and a half-brother, Samuel Cross of Waynesburg.
A sister, Ella Phillips; three brothers, Stanley, Artie and Norval Eddy, and two half-brothers, Fred and Roy Cumberledge, are deceased.

Friends of Merl Eddy of Route 4, Morgantown, WV, a native of Greene County, who died Monday, June 18, 1984, will be received from 7-9 PM Tuesday in the Glise E. Mariner and Samuel A. Milliken Funeral Home, Waynesburg, where services will be conducted at 1 PM Wednesday, June 20, by the Rev. Kenneth Thomas. Interment in Claughton Chapel Cemetery.
