EDWARD M. CLAY Gifted pianist, prolific writer and retired professor of English at California State University, Hayward, died on July 31, 2003 in San Mateo, California. Born June 8, 1932 in Minneapolis, MN, he earned a BA degree from the University of Minnesota. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he went on to earn a PhD from the University of Missouri prior to teaching at Cal State for 34 years. He is survived by his brother and sister-in law, Homer and Peg Clay, by two nieces, a nephew, numerous great-nieces and nephews, and by ex-wife Katherine Clay of San Carlos, a devoted friend for almost 40 years. Private services have been held. Crosby-N. Gray & Co., Burlingame.
