Jim was born in Janesville on Aug. 10, 1939, to Thomas and Beryl (Wandell) Stapleton. He was raised in Janesville, and he graduated from Janesville Senior High School in 1957. He worked at the former Ossit Furniture Store in Janesville. He was employed at General Motors in Janesville for 34 years. He first worked on the assembly line, and then he later worked on paint booth maintenance. He retired on April 1, 1997. Jim started coming to the Millston area in 1987, and he moved to Millston permanently following his retirement. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing pool and horse shoes. He had been married and divorced twice.
