CITY LOSES GOOD CITIZEN
E. E. Sullivan Dies After Long Illness.

E. E. Sullivan, aged 53, succumbed to the inevitable Tuesday evening at 8:30 o'clock at Shreveport, Louisiana. For some time he has been in poor health, the family and friends held out hope till the last that he might recover. The funeral services were held at the family residence at 1 o'clock Friday in the presence of hundreds of friends who had gathered to pay t heir last homage to this splendid citizen. The body was laid to rest in the family lot in the Minden Cemetery, with the funeral rites conducted by Dr. M. E. Dodd, pastor of the First Baptist church of Shreveport, assisted by the Red. D. C. Freeman, pastor of Minden Baptist church.

At the time of his demise, Mr. Sullivan was connected with the Webster Benevolent Association, an Insurance Company, and in the real estate business. He was ever active in civic affairs and constantly used his influence for the community at large. He was very interested in the Minden Chamber of Commerce and school affairs. At one time he was president of the school board of the parish. He formerly served as marshal and deputy sheriff. For several years during his lifetime he lived in Texas. Three years of this time he served as mayor of Mercedes, Texas. Later he and his estimable family returned to Minden and has since made this their home.

He is survived by his devoted wife and seven children, whose hearts are crushed over the loss of one so dear and precious to them. The sons and daughters that survive him are: Byron Sullivan of Shreveport, Lee Sullivan; Mrs. Chris Lunsford (nee Miss Edna Sullivan); Misses Jessie Mae and Alma Sullivan, and Elroy and Howard Sullivan.

The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the family in this hour of sadness.
