Joann M. Bonfigt, age 71, formerly of 1107 Columbus St., Two Rivers, entered eternal rest at St. Mary's at Felician Village, Manitowoc, on Wednesday, April 14, 2010.

Joann was born to the late John and Josephine Kotarek Bonfigt on May 24, 1938, the eldest of five children. After the death of her parents, Joann cared for her brothers in the family home until her illness in late 2009. She was a lifelong member of St. Mark's/St. Peter the Fisherman parish. Joann's life was one of many challenges, but she never allowed those challenges to crush her spirit. She had a wonderful sense of humor and her spirited personality touched all who knew her. Most importantly Joann had faith in God and was a true witness of that faith in life as well as in death.

Joann leaves behind her two very special brothers: Ralph and Wayne of Two Rivers. She is survived by a special uncle: Matt Kralovetz of Denmark, and many cousins and other relatives. Joann was blessed with many angels in her life. Those special angels include: Minnie Hoffman and her family, especially Audrey and Marna, who were not only dear friends but also sisters and mentors to Joan; as well as Sandy and Patti, caregivers who held a special place in Joann's heart. Joann was also survived by her "family" of special mentors from IRO: Mel, Nikki, Julie, Lynn, Amber, Amy, Becky and Shari; and her loving guardian and special friend, Chris. She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Richard and Roland.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010, at the Felician Village Chapel, 1635 S. 21st St., Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen, with burial of her cremated remains to be held at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.

Friends may call at the Felician Village Chapel on Saturday morning from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:30.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Triumph Cancer Research Center in De Pere or the Felician Village.

Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th St., Two Rivers, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

Thank you to Dr. Yetter, Dr. Rohde, and the staff of Aurora Medical Center. A very special thank you to Dawn, a very loving and dedicated nurse from VNA Hospice, as well as other hospice staff. Much gratitude to the clergy at St. Francis of Assisi Parish and the loving and caring nurses and administrative staff at St. Mary's at Felician Village for the special care given to Joann in her final days.
