Father of the infamous executed rapist, Caryl Chessman. Caryl Chessman was convicted of rape in California, and spent years on death row, writing books and fighting to overturn his sentence. Ultimately he failed, and was put to death on May 2, 1960. His father, who died while Caryl was on death row, had requested that his son be allowed to join him at Forest Lawn, but the cemetery refused to allow the dead criminal to be interred there. His ashes were ultimately scattered.
