Johnnie was honorably discharged from the Naval Reserve, retired as a boiler operator from Brown Forman, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post #201, and a previous member of both St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and St. Bernard Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Leona Clark Herald; sister, Hilda Skaggs; and brothers, Danny Keith Herald, Orman Earl Herald and William O. Herald.
Johnnie is survived by his son, Johnnie M. Herald III (Valerie); grandchildren, Tina Nelson (Mike), Mary Louise Herald, Trisha L. Todd (J.R.) and Renee Anderson (David); great-grandchildren, Courtney Townsend, Christy Nelson and Alexandria and Nola Anderson; and his niece, Janis Lucas (Sonny).
A service in honor of Johnnie will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2014 with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time on Thursday.
