Alice Geraldine Barnett Shelor, age 79, of Blacksburg, died Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. She was born in Blacksburg on September 11, 1934 to the late Thomas and Elizabeth Lemon Barnett. She was preceded in death by nine stepsisters and one stepbrother. She was a member of the Blacksburg First Church of God.
She is survived by her husband, Arnold Lee Shelor, of Blacksburg; daughters and son-in-law, Janie and Mike Rasnake, of Christiansburg, Connie Shelor, of Blacksburg; son, Roger Shelor, of Blacksburg; grandchildren, Angel Fridley and husband, Chris, of Dublin, soon to be great-grandchild, Adelyn Faith Fridley; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Troy and Betty Shelor, of Blacksburg; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Sharon Knight, Ruth Ogle, Cinda and Ralph Sutherland, and her church family.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor David Ansley officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106A Roanoke, Va. 24018 or to the Blacksburg First Church of God 110 Roanoke St. E, Blacksburg, Va. 24060. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening May 21, 2014 at the McCoy Funeral Home 150 Country Club Dr. SW, Blacksburg.
