Buren DeVan Tillman, a commercial fisherman for the past 24 years, died Thursday. He was 40.

Known affectionately as "Van" and "Peabody," Tillman was a lifelong resident of Coden.

Survivors include his son, Jared Nelson Tillman of Grand Bay; his father and stepmother, DeVan and Stellie Tillman of Bayou La Batre; and his sister, Christie Wescovich of Coden.

The visitation will be today from 10 a.m. until the 2 p.m. service at Serenity Funeral Home on Old Pascagoula Road. Burial will be in Oddfellows Cemetery in Bayou La Batre.
