As a young girl, Alyce and the McGrath family moved to Aurora, Nebraska where she attended Aurora public schools, graduating from high school in 1930. Following graduation Alyce worked as a nanny and homemaker for John and Mary Quinn.
On 26 Jul 1933, Alyce married Gordon Russell Cruff at Norton, Kansas. They lived in Norton for a short time before moving back to Nebraska. They lived on several Hamilton County farms before purchasing the Orchard Hill Cruff farm two miles east of Aurora in 1942 where they lived until moving into Aurora in 1968.
Alyce enjoyed her work as a waitress at the SYA café in Aurora for many years. After her retirement she spent the winters in Mesa, Arizona and summers in Aurora, Doniphan, and Wheatland, Wyoming. She loved gardening, canning, and baking. Alyce was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and was always there when she was needed.
Alyce was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband, 2 sons, Tom of Boulder, Colorado and Charles "Butch" of Mesa, Arizona; 2 daughters, Connie Robertson of Doniphan, Nebraska and Cheryl Meier of Wheatland, Wyoming, 7 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren.
Graveside Services were held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, 23 Oct 1993 at the Aurora Cemetery.
