Dr. Charles A. Bacon, formerly of New York, died Saturday in Deland, Fla., at the age of fifty-five. His death was produced by pericarditis brought on by a prolonged immersion in the Indian River a year ago. Dr. Bacon was born and brought up in New York. He was graduated from Columbia College, studied medicine and completed his medical training in Vienna and Berlin. He practised [sic] twenty-three years in New York. He moved to Washington, D. C., six or seven years ago, continuing there the practice of medicine till two years ago. Five years ago he invested in Florida, and purchased two or three orange groves, which he cultivated. He enlisted as assistant surgeon in the army at the time of the battle of White Oaks. Mrs. Bacon, who died two years ago, was a daughter of President Reed, of the University of Missouri. Two children survived him, a girl fourteen years old and a boy of ten. Congressman Henry Bacon, of Goshen, is a brother of Dr. Bacon.
