MYERS, CHARLES CURTIS, 74, of Mt. Washington returned to his Heavenly Father on Monday, August 3, 2009 at his home.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Washington. His service to the Lord included tenures as a deacon, interim song leader, youth teacher and volunteer at the Christian Life Center. His Christian spirit touched the lives of many he dealt with in school and business.

He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and he received his master's degree from Western Kentucky University. Charles was a teacher, school counselor, and real estate broker.

Charles was a polio survivor, however the crippling disease did not stop him from his love of sports. He was very active in senior softball and was an all-star member of a world championship team.

He was born in Marion County the son of Porter B. and Florence Wade Myers. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years Patsy (Crenshaw) Myers; three sons, Charles David Myers, Lowell Curtis Myers (Cherie), and Stephen Patrick Myers (Christine); four grandchildren, Aaron, Olivia, Seth, and Madeline Myers; two sisters, Rita LeNeave, Martina Ricketts (Arthur); and a brother, Max Myers (Mary Jo).

Thanks to our families, friends of the church, community, men of the Louisville Senior Softball League, and the nurses of Hosparus.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Schmid Funeral Home in Mt. Washington. Burial will be in Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 - 8 p.m. Thursday.

Memorial gifts may go to the First Baptist Church or Hosparus of Louisville.
