Milless "Pookie" Shores passed away peacefully just before her 79th birthday. She will be missed in the city of Perris and Temecula communities as well as all across the country where her extended family mourns her passing and celebrates her life. Anyone who knew Milless is thankful that she had part in their growing and adult lives. Milless was born in Oceanside, California and was raised in Perris, California. She in turn raised her family in Perris and resided there until her last day. Pechanga Silver Feather Member, she was preceded by her parents Evelyn Clarice Pico and Daniel Pico, her husband Carl Shores, brothers Gibby and Norman Pico, sister Germaine Arenas, son-in-law Patrick and many other loved ones. Survived by her sister Marie Pico Russell and daughters Charmaine Lane and Evelyn Gerber, six grandchildren: Patricia, Mary, David, Diana, Kristy, Matt, and seventeen great-grandchildren along with their families. She will be missed by her caretaker and dear friend Juan Sanchez. Pookie leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family who will all tell you that she holds a special place in their lives. "Our roots are sunk deep into the land. The ashes of our ancestors cover this place where the sun is Pechaangayam" Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians All are welcome to come celebrate her life. Services will take place at Evans-Brown Mortuary, Sun City, CA on Friday, May 23, 2014 beginning with a Visitation and Rosary at 9am followed by a Service at 11am.
