Isam Edward " Johnny " Bowlegs Jr. of Sasakwa, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at age 70 years. Born December 17, 1943 in Wewoka, OK to the late Isam Bowlegs Sr. and Eula Mae Harjo. Wake service will be 6:00 PM to 8 :00 PM Friday, May 23, 2014 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel. The body will be taken to the Home at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 25, 2014. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Monday, May 26, 2014 at Bird Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Dorsey Nero and Pastor George Harjochee officiating and burial to follow at Bowlegs-Harjo Cemetery. Johnny was a graduate of Capitol Hill High School and later worked at Tinker Air Force Base. e served in the US Marines from February 24, 1966 to August 1968, earning one silver metal, 2 bronze, and three purple hearts during the Vietnam War. Johnny loved doing cryptograms, watching Oklahoma City Thunder, and going to Pat's Cafe in Holdenville, and visiting with friends. He was a proud Marine and loved to tell stories of his service duties. He always tried to make life better for his family. He enjoyed feeding and watching the birds. Preceding Johnny in death are his parents , sister Eulene Miller Bowlegs, niece Diedre Postoak. Arrangements by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
