Robert Marvel, 69, Warroad, died Thursday, May 24, 2001, in Roseau (Minn.) Area Hospital.

Robert Charles Marvel was born June 10, 1931, the son of Charles and Anna Marvel, in Whiting, Ind. He graduated from high school in Hammond, Ind. He joined the U.S. Navy, where he served for four years. He then attended Purdue College for two years. He married Gerrie on June 14, 1952, in Whiting. He worked in the lab for Standard Oil, and as a salesman for Wonderbread Co. They moved to Warroad 26 years ago. He worked as a butcher for Red Owl in Warroad, and then at Marvin Windows and Doors, where he was a lead man and a Cushman driver. He retired in 1998.

He is survived by his wife; children, Denise (Phillip) Stodgell, Warroad, Kathleen (David) Beaudry, South Junction, Man., David, Minneapolis, and Robert Jr., Williams, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Annette Allgeier, Sprague, Man.; and brothers, Roy (Freida), in Massachusetts, and Roger (Darlene), Crown Point, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Warroad.

Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer vigil service, Helgeson Funeral Chapel, Warroad.

Military rites: Warroad American Legion.
