Emily was born to Martha Ann Turner and Jacob Hervey Brown in Missouri. She married Joel Morrison on January 4th, 1877 when she was 21yrs old in McDonald County, Missouri. They had a son in December of 1877, his name was Alonzo Andy Brown. Emily's marriage to Joel did not last very long, as she is found on the 1880 census without him as "Divorced". She gave her son her maiden name of "Brown" instead of his father's Morrison name. Thanks to Lona Cappis for finding this info.

Emily's time of death is unknown, and her place of burial is still searched for today. She appears on the 1880 census with her mother and two sisters and 2yr old son Alonzo in Big Spring, Benton County, Arkansas. We are assuming she is buried in Missouri, Arkansas, or perhaps even Oklahoma, with Missouri being the place of best interest because her mother Martha is buried in the Purdy Cemetery in Barry County. It is possible that Emily remarried, and died with a different last name, this would explain why we cannot find her.

Her father Jacob's place and time of death has also been a mystery for us, nor do we know where he is buried. We know he died between 1860-1870.

1/16/2017-Tonight I was looking thru a small shoe box that I keep things in that once belonged to my Grandma Una Brown who was Emily's Granddaughter. I used to call my Grandma Una on the phone and ask her questions about her family. I would jot down everything she told me, and I had put the notes in this shoe box and forgot about them until tonight when I found them. I wrote my Grandma Una's words "Grandma Brown died before my oldest sister Rosie was born". I was amazed that I had not remembered writing this down! It helps to know that Emily Brown died before 1904. I just hope my Grandmother was correct....
