James Timothy Canty, 80, entered into his final rest on Oct. 31st at West Haven Veterans Hospital. Born in Summerton, SC, he was the son of the late Thomas and Ruth Canty. James served in the U. S. Air Force and was the Past CDR of the American Legion McKinney King Post 142. He is survived by his sons, Alvin (Shirley), Carlton (Barbara), Steve (Janice) and James (Caretta); a daughter, Jill Theresa Canty; 11 grandchildren; a great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews and family. James was also predeceased by his brother, William Junious and sister, Camilla Canty Franklin.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 9th at 10 a.m. at Mt Olive Baptist Church, 20 Battle St., Hartford. Burial will follow in Col. Gates Cemetery with full military honors.
