Russell Armstrong, a veteran of the Civil War, died at his home near Carmichaels, Sunday afternoon, January 14, aged 79 years, following a few days' illness of pneumonia. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and was most highly respected. Mr. Armstrong served through the Civil War as a member of the Ringgold Calvary. He was united in marriage with Miss Nancy E. Huston, whose death occurred six years ago. The following children survive: Samuel of Beaver, Pa.; Jesse of Etna, Pa.; Mrs. Andrew Goldstrom and Winfield Armstrong, both of Carmichaels. He also leaves two brothers, John W. Armstrong of Pittsburgh and Neri Armstrong of Carmichaels. Six grandchildren also survive. The funeral service was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. W. H. Johnson. Interment in Laurel Point Cemetery.
