Bernard A. Jones was born Oct. 25, 1911. He was married to Violet "Ruth" Simmons. Together they had seven children. 4 sons, Bernard (Bub),(who was killed in action in Viet Nam, 10/16/67) Charles (Jack), John and Bradley. 3 daughters, Joyce, Betty Jo and Virginia. Bernard's earlier years were spent in the coal mines. His later years he and the family lived in Coalton, W. VA, where he worked for the Coalton School system, as their maintainance man. He spent many early winter mornings going over to the school to make sure the furnances were all fired up. He had a kind of gruff exterior, but always, on a second glance you could see the slight grin and twinkle in his eye that let you know he was really a softy. He was loved and is sadly missed by his family and friends. I regreted that I never got the chance to tell him, he was my "adopted Dad".
