Wes was the son of Joshua HOBBS and Mary "Polly" BROWN Hobbs.

He was married to Lily Marcella Bond on 16 May 1879, in Countil Grove, Morris, Kansas, USA.

Wes arrived in Wabaunsee County, Kansas with his parents in about 1866. He had no education and he never learned to write. At the age of 20 he was baptized into the United Brethren Church.

He was light complexed , weighed about 180 pounds and well built. Wes & Lily lived on a farm 4 miles southeast of Alta Vista, Kansas when their children were born.

In 1919 they moved with some of the younger children to Pawhuska, Oklahoma. About 1920 Wes and his wife and two daughters fixed up a covered wagon and toured the following states; Oklahoma, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska and Missouri. Wes took sick on the road, but made it to his home in Pawhuska, Oklahoma.

Cause of death: Lumbago of the heart.
