She then went to work at the Air Base in Sioux Falls, SD during World War II and then was employed at the First National Bank in Beresford, SD, where she met the love of her life. On March 23, 1947 Marie and Orvin were united in marriage at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Beresford, SD. The couple resided in Beresford, until 1952 when they moved west of Volin, where they remained until moving into Volin in November of 1992. Marie was a member of Faith United Lutheran Church, was active in WELCA, and participated in the Gayville-Volin Senior Buddies. She was a member of the camping club.
