Edna Watson was born to parents Jesse and Nancy (Williams) Hopper. She married Andrew Jackson (Jack) Pruitt, the son of Ephraim Pruitt and the grandson of Solomon Pruitt of Cumberland County, Kentucky. They married in about 1850 and had six children born between 1851 and 1864.
Edna's husband died of unknown causes in 1865 or 1866 and his burial location is also unknown. It is suspected that he was a guerrilla fighter during the Civil War supporting the Union, and that he died while pursuing this deadly practice.
Edna Pruitt remarried between 1866 and 1869 to Joshua Thomas Watson and the family moved to Pulaski County, Missouri. Then sometime between 1870 and 1876 the family, with only four Pruitt children now (Nancy, Sarah, Clayton and Harrison, moved to Taney County, Missouri and settled in what was then the "town" of Mincy where she and Thomas (Joshua Thomas)lived the rest of their lives. Mincy Cemetery is located about ten miles southeast of Branson. Edna and Thomas joined the Mincy Valley Baptist Church of Christ in January, 1876. Edna's two daughters, Nancy and Sarah, were baptized at the same church soon after.
